Take the Rainbow (Grey Drains a Day)

it’d be dim of me to deny shadows
tailing rainbow’s bold
array
,

though if you wanna try, i’m sure you can
find bite marks in any night, on any
headlight bashed loose any
drive-home day,

all straight lines walked and all the
wild turkeys talked with the
working dead, they say-

all work , no say ’til we’re too shriveled
and pale to care for and water love’ s leaves
or dare play to song’s softer
strengths

i’ll just keep drummin’ thumbs
on a grateful skull ’til all
these rainbows taste
less grey.
