Paper Basket

i’d rather cross a time where
tryin’ still counts for
something,

rather than just for avoidin’
the lone face in our
dying,

a place where buyin’
time’s a dated
practice,

where we toss out
peeled scabs with unsorted
plastics in crumpled
sheets lining wire
wastebasket.
