Heart Swings from String (beatin’ weary wings)

valentine, oh my heart-stop sign
swingin’ for years here on
this splintered perch
in low decline,

holdin’ onto last of
life’s healthy
vines,

palms are clams and hands
claim they’re holdin’ a
place in time
,

as am i.

valentine, oh my valentine,
things are fine, though we
swing for different joys
a swing-set brings
come spring
.

guess i’m a stranger
strain of man.

a sickly strain in veins
of fine woman
,

but there’s still room here
for ya, on this ol’
tire o’ mine,

but so clearly in pane’s
displayed heart’s ol’
stop sign,

cracks so clearly
defined.

c’mere and just let me
hold your heart
in mine
.
