the frosts that cost us

a former poem given wings,

squint the buds shut to deflect
any melting pixels on
a flat screen,

as twin wi-fi towers crash
south and splice the
skyline at its
seams,

or so it largely
seems,

a heartbeat slowed to a shrug,
in sinew grown around
embedded slug,

a soul consumed by
such a lethal
frost

once a clearest window
now the rusty gates
to loss.
