2020-10-12 – Dirt on Wood

if i fell apart, would
you even know?

or would you sweep
my mess and
shake me

into waste

like any respectable
house cleaner

what if clean’s
not always

and what harm’s a
little dust on

*poem loosely based on revisiting my (pre-Duvall) Alice in Chains collection for sake of nostalgia, or midlife crisis.. still undecided.

      • Ah, I miss those Walkman days. I wore out quite a few back in the day. I remember the first time I heard The Smiths via sharing a headphone each with a pal in 1st year at secondary school. A lifelong love affair was born right there…

But you’re right about AIC though, and a lot of other bands of their ilk at the time. Some good tunes but they don’t quite stand the test of time. Guess not everyone can be a Nirvana or a Dinosaur Jr! 👍🖤

      • Yes! Funny you mention Dinosaur Jr., other than a couple of moderate radio hits, i never really explored them until recently, and wow had i missed out.. it confirmed to me you don’t have to beat a listener over the head to convey desolation and despair through fuzzy guitars, though i often enjoy that too! For fuzzy guitar.. i really enjoyed Monster Magnet’s sludgy Superjudge and still do! heh..
