2020-12-21 – No, Excuse Me

i’m the reason
you can’t
excuse..

me for the bad
i can’t undo,

and for the times
i’ve overblown
trying to
prove

i’m worthy
enough
to be

devoured
by you.

    • Thanks. 🙂 I’m curious about your own writing process. Do set an atmosphere, have any kind of ritual or quirk or do you just decide to write? If you don’t want to answer, that’s fine.. i’m just always curious to hear about how others go about their craft. I’m thinking of researching what it takes to podcast, I think I need a new outlet..

      • Oooh a podcast sounds fun!
Have flirted with the idea myself on the past but wouldn’t really know how to start. Plus there’s that whole anonymity thing I guess…
You’ll have to let me know if you decide to go for it though – would be keen to listen.

Writing wise I’m not really sure I have a process – at least not a structured one anyway. I’m quite envious of those who do.

Usually there’s a trigger – music/lyrics, a line in a film/TV show, a personal emotion or feeling, an event or something that kicks off a thought in my head. Then it’s a case of writing down the bare bones of something and saving it until the time is right to post.

I find I write multiple ‘poems’ at once – maybe like 5 or 6 at a time and then it can be a day or so before the inspiration / trigger strikes again.

I guess as most of mine are so short I can get away with it more so than those who have to put a bit more effort into longer pieces.

        How about you? 🖤

      • Took awhile to respond so I could actually provide as thoughtful a one as yours..

For inspiration, it usually comes to me in fragments of lines when I am not expecting it. So I jot them down into a notepad on my phone. Later i often begin with a line and see where it leads me. Occasionally i’ll start with an idea or theme for example “windswept plains” and will just start visualizing the imagery and write.

Sometimes i get annoyed and write just to express. I have many poems I don’t even post because they are so dark that i’m not sure they are worth sharing.

I nearly always listen to music (headphone) while writing and have different playlists i turn to for different moods. I mess around with room lighting.. so I have an assortment of different coloured bulbs i mix and match.

Feeling safe, comfortable and like I have my own private space are also vital.
