it was a pink and
dusty dawn
but its chill
felt like
coal
as dry ice caked
the pipes
so heart shrunk
with no blood,
despite the
stir of
deep
urge to pump
that flash
flood
through pinholes
of sore veins
to flush
out
the mud.
