blind,
so i didn’t open
my eyes
yet
realized.

puddles formed
around my
feet
in the center of
a crowded
room,
i spotted you
across the
eyes
wondering if your
shoes were
soggy
too.
braced to your
wing,
wind whipping
skin–
a trust
sheltered within.
slipped my hand
from glove
to find yours open,
waiting..
to tender mercy’s
touch,
to melt the frost
around my
heart.
it was slow flicker
to flame
that kept our home
warm
when windows
shattered
and snow
feathered in.
visible from
shore
are shadows
midst the waves,
as moonlight
holds vigil
over underwater
graves.
upon
dashboard–
i spot lights and
dials to guide
my ride
midst
whispers
from backseat
driver side.
cradling
innocence,
lost within your
curiosity
towards
life
has lost
color,
then i catch glimpse
of younger
me
alive in your
sparkling
eyes.
amidst
snowflakes
we tread upon
ice sheets
towards a ghostly
cabin
in the corner of
a clearing,
enticed by
pluming smokestacks,
its front
door.,
forever open.
the whoosh of
shadows
from not quite beyond
the senses
assure that i
am ever
seen.
