grill
to bumper,
steel tides slow
and go,
in a sea of traffic
barely afloat,
shall i trade in
my sweet
ride
for
a boat?
won’t fade on
you..
just hold your
light up-
i’m never
far from mind,
yes, i’ll wait

to find the
power
to..
while i search
for mine.
awkward, yet
sincere,
he perseveres when
others mock,
not afraid to
talk the
truth,
even if his words
aren’t clear.
hold the note..
exhale–
magic passed in
breath to
ears,
but praise don’t
move you..
like their
tears.
she sees blue earth
beneath lives
scattered–
and knows her worth
in its embers,
she scoops the
ash and
smudges her
cheeks..
reaching for
release.
drowning in a thought
bubble..
pops and escapes the
dreams that
hid
for years from
retired
kid–
returned as though
he never
left
the pond like
summer
did.
consumed by
couch-
spare change
in hair,
almost didn’t
see me
there,
kind of you to
sit with
me
if only for
a bit,
gets lonely
here
cloaked
in upholstery..
and so hard to
breathe..
must admit.
damp hair in
mirror,
fog
from mouth
hot as dragon’s
song
then gone,
like sticky
dream–
love how you fill a room
with steam
will you share a last
dance with
me?
before we
leave
knowing not whether
we’ll be
back..
to waltz another
next year,
take
a bow-
not feeling
morbid,
just thankful
for right
now.
