she came from a
shambles
town
but spoke of it
like eden,
and gushed about
the green
space
that would hold her
like lovers
never
did
alongside a stream that
would take
her
to where no worry
was welcome
and no trouble
would follow.

i journeyed long
through
hard
to collapse in
your arms,
only to feel them
crumble to
dust..
leaving me
solely
with
wanderlust.
you took to the
winter
just like your
mother
and buried that
face in its
chest,
while i watched
in envy
from warm side of
the window
where my cheek remains
pressed.
you brought flowers to
this madness
and watched them wilt
where planted,
then stood guard with
vigilance
as the elements tendered
them life.
in
shyness,
i’ve turned down
your hand,
in
resistance,
i’ve guarded my
island
and watched as
you circle
secretly wishing you’d
wash up on
shore,
in
shyness,
i’m lost on
land.
it was the song
in your
look
that floated me
places
i had only read
in books
of scribes better
versed
than
i
on
the art
of connection.
let’s spill the
hours
and fill these
eyes
like tears may
bring us
peace..
of mind, we too
shall find
deep rest in slow
release.
comfort in cool
sheets
on a solitary
eve,
praying out the
window,
watching headlights on
highway
blur..
entrances me
to sleep.
flitting somewhere
in between
the day
and laments passed,
kindling any
ember
that may smolder
into memory.
holding space
for warmer thoughts
on night bereft
of spark
keeps the soul from
shivering,
two hands around
one heart.
