bubbles from
a song–
float over my
brain,
then burst to
produce
refreshing
rain,
whispers in a
dream–
soothe us till
we wake,
please do resolve this
inner ache.
abstract
tried to call
you-
trying to reach
me,
both so desperate
to connect
in ways distance
just won’t
reflect.
we licked the
tears
from each other’s
photo
then wiped the dust
from ducts of
our eyes
and shut a tattered
album
reaching for our
camera
with a spark of
inspiration.
we were kindling
for a fire..
we knew would dim
by morning
but surrendered
our hearts
gladly
to
the
flames
vowed we’d not
lose touch
then found ourselves
distracted by
attractions..
still, i miss you
much.
drank my
fill,
spilled from
the tank,
stained fresh
grass,
let chances pass
like ships
and watched them
fade into the
distance.
do you boast a faith
strong enough
to feel..
the years as they
flash forth
for their final
release?
it may come
as little surprise..
i’m not prepared
to tender
my
goodbyes.
i don’t need you to
be constant,
just
present..
intermittently
or whenever you’ve
the space
for my head in
your heart.
i watched
you..
pop out of
that portrait frame
and take life by
the eyes,
seeming more at ease
in motion
than plastered pretty
on a wall.
a stretch from
the cave-
trembling for
sunlight,
in hopes your warmth
finds its
way
through the thickest
of nights.
