be my last
dance
in the flame
room,
won’t let your
plush hair
brush the
dirt,
should we flee
in time
to escape
night,
may we find
our truth
or
worse?
dark romance
must have read
this passage
a hundred
times
before what you
shared
sunk
in
like sun
into unsettled lake
at first throb
of dusk.
salt and sugar sprinkled
down my spine,
kisses traced from
here to eden,
a viper wound
around the
thigh-
at rapture’s peak
within its
grasp.
a
kiss
breaks up the
fight
like pink doves
landing
in the middle of
a minefield
as temporary
truce.
like winter
storm
with little
warning
she blinded me
so gracefully..
so grateful to
be buried.
you had more
light
than we would
burn
off
with
friction,
causing sparks
couldn’t be
turned
off
but we prefer
it dark.
a fallen rose petal
covers my
eye,
its salve soothing
me deep
as it
blinds.

tongues
we
lost time..
won’t forgive us
for staring
back
into
darkness–
desperate for that
next kiss.
we were kindling
for a fire..
we knew would dim
by morning
but surrendered
our hearts
gladly
to
the
flames
working through
the hurting
while
questioning
what’s
just happened
to leave
us sweating
this long into
the night.
