never cracked
a puzzle,
i sop
blood from
murder novels,
where every fiendly
foe travels with
a spool of
rope
and shovel for still
night clean ups,
dust ups in
dim
ditch brawls revived
in grainy recalls
of details on a couch
in some smooth
listener’s
office,
slurping his
americano like..
gas right from
the nozzle,
i’ve lied about
how well
i solve
a puzzle?
maybe, maybe not,
perhaps that’s
all i’ve got,
have all you want if
heart knows
you true,
and if fate supports
that string of
thought,
i’ve got a ribbon i
wish to pin up
in you,
cheekbones sharp, so’s
the tug around
your heart,
as eyes re-adjust
to the creak
creak of
crusty lashes,
draw the
bath..
dissolving suds
down zigzag
drain
boxed into my
jigsaw brain.
