the day fell
like lead curtains,
you endured character
attacks,
so i’ll display
affections
in a meal i made
from scratch,
it won’t resolve work
troubles
but may let you
relax.
mindfulness
the full weight of
your smile,
a chipped and faded
checkered
floor tile,
the stitches from
your belly
laughs-
all that in
a photograph.
a rain kissed
stroll..
past the old
haunt
reminds me why
we moved
and rekindles
wistful
mood.
life
is brief–
but today’s a never
ending tale..
and details of yesterday
can’t help but
sound stale.
bubbles from
a song–
float over my
brain,
then burst to
produce
refreshing
rain,
whispers in a
dream–
soothe us till
we wake,
please do resolve this
inner ache.
tried to call
you-
trying to reach
me,
both so desperate
to connect
in ways distance
just won’t
reflect.
we licked the
tears
from each other’s
photo
then wiped the dust
from ducts of
our eyes
and shut a tattered
album
reaching for our
camera
with a spark of
inspiration.
i don’t need you to
be constant,
just
present..
intermittently
or whenever you’ve
the space
for my head in
your heart.
a stretch from
the cave-
trembling for
sunlight,
in hopes your warmth
finds its
way
through the thickest
of nights.
i don’t sip
coffee
yet inhale its breeze
from a table
over,
wondering what it means
to the lips it
warms
on this morning
come too
quick.
