i fall
into her tune
when i should really
craft my
own
to regale her
deep into the night,
for each
and every time
she’s shared
of hers
to spare me
mine.
mindfulness
much like
a shooting star,
your flash too far
for me to
see,
scarcely notice you
from bare
land,
but can you
wave to
me?
dragging fingers
over strings
hoping something
tickles
where i’m
numb,
while humming notes
all wrong
to hear new
compositions come.
this sorrow’s but
the feather
over my eyes
catching a
breeze–
the dust kicked up
by wind
gusts
causing cathartic
sneeze.
relief sheens in
the dew
of a rose
leaf,
unpicked and left
whole
to bask alone in
morning
glow.
they
couldn’t
separate us
with
a blade,
shan’t break this
embrace
to quell another’s
rage,
we’re tight
enough
to hold the air
in place.
watching you like
a movie
i’ve seen more
than once,
i could predict
your next
line
but why mess with
the timing,
hearing you like a
song bound to
my brain,
were i to sing your
next lyric,
would it chime
the same?
taking hold by
letting go-
these knuckles
crave rest
from clutching
old blankets
so tight
to the chest.
a dear friend on
the mend
leans too close
for advice,
i offer not
wisdom
but will listen
all night.
smother fears
gently
in
comfort
surrounding,
your kiss like
the sun
when warm days
can’t find
me.
