we said
and wept and
waved
as though we
were liars,
under the same
moon
we bask in
truth,
to the hum
of long distance wires.
mindfulness
watching rhythmic
sway
of an empty
day
on the tip of
branch,
tapping ‘gainst
window
pane-
wishing to
play.
cranking open
window
to let
the air out,
can nearly smell
you in the
dew,
and almost see your
smile
behind
the curtains
calling to
be let
in.
can’t watch
thunder,
won’t hear
lightning strike,
but feel them rage
in tandem
throughout
breathless night.
soggy trail..
along a
dried up stream,
steers us deeper
into foggy
green
where the undead
used to
tread.
on flower
lane
trees listened
in-
to whispers
of sweethearts
midst footsteps
of past,
and though rainclouds
would gather
they’d never
last.
it’s everyday
rain-
i see reflected in
each pace
by
the
window,
in each turn
to say..
“hey.”
a rust moon taints
the stars..
shooting across
our eyes,
flakes cascade
from sky,
settling upon
tongues-
too acrid for
some.
more than the
shy girl
shown to the
world,
just thoughtful when
she chooses to
speak,
reflective-
confidently
meek.
the shape of true
beauty in
skin–
the rest of you stays
hidden,
and though i breathe
love through
each cell,
not sure you
hear
me
purr
like kittens.
