same lost walk
through
park

new marvels tug
at sleeve

to be
believed,

too busy peering
down, trying
not to
trip

over crack
in familiar ground..

to glance about
and see,

there’s far more to
perceive

than
draggin’ feet.

as road forks
’round the
bend,

can’t see the
clearest way ahead,

though wheel turns all
the same,

no bad drivers left
to blame.

like the kid with a
fistful of
coins,

but no wishes or
fountains of
fish

just his
own reflection..

in a puddle, begging
closer inspection.
