cross stitch
eyes,
a grin sewn into
quilt hem,
past held together with
old thread
draped over a
haunted
bed.
like scratched out
graffiti–
i cant quite decipher
message,
though i make
out random
edges
when eyes strain
just right.
i’ve tapped into
something
that i can’t
unsee,
despite exhaustive
attempts at
relief,
i’ve wandered in
somewhere
a soul can’t
escape–
so it’s best i stay lost
and create.
when i grow

flair
as throughout
tantrums
and screams into
pillows,
now just a breeze through
the willows.
i often rest
awake
where
others have slept
and wonder
what they’ve dreamt
while
in same bed..
same room..
while lit up by
the same
moon.
in
a river,
laid out for your
current
to claim my frame
without
fight,
drag me wherever
needed-
don’t need a
reason.
sleeping
one eye pried,
managed to
drop
us..
though i
tried
to hold stronger than
you needed,
more stone faced
than you
desired
and now i’m chasing
memories
down
with a mind
on fire.
