i chased
you,
you tracked
me,
we melded in the
middle,
where both
could
see
that no one was
escaping-
that neither
heart
was
breaking.
romance
i’m woken..
while
she’s sleeping-
thus unknowing of
my fears,
love turns over
to see me
staring,
and starts snoring
in my ear.
she poses by
window,
casting sharp
angles,
whispering shy
things,
tugging on dress
strings,
i laze by the
fire pit
and gaze at her
plush wings.
desire’s eyes bleed
through their
lids,
a heaving heart beats
through its
ribs,
lights dim–
and shallow breaths
quicken..
as endorphins
kick in.
gracefully stepping
from canoe-
your swan
ankles
swallowed
by sea,
as downy wings
rustled
like leaves in
love’s
tree.
a wave to packed bus
rushing
away,
the lovelorn
shuffle
home..
to crash on
couch..
to revisit the
hours..
to loosen my
belt-
and smell summer
flowers.
absence grips
on tightly,
thoughts of your
warmth
remind
me..
how
to feel-
with empty
space
beside
me..
but never
inside.
the waves licked
your toes
like they craved
adventure,
and you sunk
into sand
like ship beached far
from known
land,
and your
sails!
oh those majestic
doves..
waved back at
the sea
as you turned
to me.
untethered the
summers..
laid shaded
in shame,
flattened by rainclouds
we could never
tame,
unshackled the
remnants
of steel round
our ankles–
thankful for a break
in the grey.
the loaded
mouth-
a heavy
head
above heart plump
with blind
regret,
the softest
tongue-
a mind
restrained,
heart calmed and
free to beat
again.
