sunday morning

creases,

in delight we
entwine
and drift in

until moonlight
dwindles
and dawn whispers
us awake.
i was hushed..
just in time..
to spare the flowers
my burning
breath,
and watched them
grow beyond
common
size
in a vase,
hand made..
with love..
by you.
i watch as you
walk in,
it’s like seeing you again,
for the first
time
except you
see me
too,
seated in our corner
booth.
like pink ribbons tied
on branches
you lend color to
the natural,
hot and
flush,
your accents
make me
blush
beyond the
flesh.
tension reached
its break
with the birth of
an embrace
that blazed through
every secret
that kept us at
arm’s length.
sun rose from
your shoulder blades
and i saluted
a fresh
day
still shaking
off old
sleep
from another
blessed
dream.
if love is
water
then wave’s a
kiss,
full and bracing upon
parched
lips.
you drop bread
crumbs as
love,
as i fade to my
own heart
and each time, i chase
your gracious
trail
right back to where
we start.
you smiled
a bit,
and i hid..
like a
kid,
for you had
melted years within
and found me home
again.
