what to make
of scars
that rinse off in
bathwater?
where the body holds
its warmth
without promises
from others.
self reliance
it took abandoning
closeness
to appreciate the
distance
between self and
all needs
that keep me clutching
at weeds.
don’t raise
me
from this raging river
with your
wings
untill i’ve mastered
swimming..
please leave me to
my treading.
