the mere mention
of your
life
brings me eye to
eye with
mine
to ponder questions
i can’t ask
because it’s out
of my hands.
shadow play
the rust baked
skyline
hovers like a
jagged
smile
not a mile from
where i gaze
and inhale
its bitter breath.
a full moon shrouds
me full too,
though not
as magnificent,
nor able
to illuminate
those shy to
nighttime
in the same
enchanting way.
you tamed the chaos
behind my
pupils
with mere mention
of a future
that wouldn’t present
in jagged
shards
for me to piece
together
alone.
change,
once again..
neutralizing expectations
and demands
of a mind, in
control
of
nothing.
hoped i could
outkiss
you
mistaking every
chance for
a test,
while i should have
yielded to the
wet
of passion on
my lips.
passenger’s side
was as close
as i’d
get
to knowing
driver’s
mind
though inches
from mine.
the sky has not
woken
yet i’m up for
its birth-
forgoing sound
rest,
on the dawn of
new hope,
i’m suspicious
at best.
taken at
face
as mine’s ground into the
shoulder of your
sweater
to keep life from
finding me
buried in
us.
love is energy imbuing
old blood
that shan’t pump
through the
pipes
of machine who
so longs to
be real.
