my shadow takes
up little
space
when the air’s
sucked
out
of rooms so
vast
no whisper’s
felt
upon the neck
or back.
spiritual evolution
you smile in
scarlet,
i nod
in shyness
though you see
thru my
ruse,
then wink with
coyness,
i blush, in
earnest
for reasons clear
only to
you.
fractured and
lagged..
expressions
roll,
as we fade all
outer light,
halfhearted, she fingers
half healed
bruises
and we unravel
tonight.
between creases
tension builds
a home for
bubbling brain
now loosened from
its leash
at last
on display
untamed.
dear savior slithers
through the
cracks
and finds her perch
upon my
lap
in fog our eyes
become the
beams
that usher us
through
dark.
what to make
of scars
that rinse off in
bathwater?
where the body holds
its warmth
without promises
from others.
echoes of ivory
stain this lounge blue,
while hot liquid saxophone
melts my ears too,
the microphone’s got
a voice of
its own,
amplifying whose
truths?
with coin in
palm
i seek out
slot
in which to drop
my gold,
in hopes the dream
will show,
not that chance
will make
it so.
freest when far
from home,
a nomad all
my days,
the path is where
i’ll lay my
bones,
while moonlight
bathes my
face.
who are you to see
this through
while i’m fingers
clutching
fence?
so, how do you know
what’s true
when i’m suspect
at best?
