remember december?
those nights crept
quick..
on worn out
blades-
thru the everglades of
lazy days,
and don’t forget
july,
or their endless
eves..
on which we
so relied
to pass our
waking
time.
spiritual evolution
birds sound far-
crickets
close,
fireflies boast their
cozy glow,
you & i
nose to nose..
a faint breeze
tickling
both.
rings around the
eyes
set on scaling
boundless
sky
to
find a
peephole,
to get a clearer
look inside–
to
spot..
what shall
no longer hide.
same lost walk
through
park
new marvels tug
at sleeve
to be
believed,
too busy peering
down, trying
not to
trip
over crack
in familiar ground..
to glance about
and see,
there’s far more to
perceive
than
draggin’ feet.
beyond the
veil,
i see you
true,
though you’d
prefer i
not..
as pale as you once
thought–
with eyes
so boundless blue.
as road forks
’round the
bend,
can’t see the
clearest way ahead,
though wheel turns all
the same,
no bad drivers left
to blame.
let’s take a spin
’round your
mind,
maybe park and
stall the
motor
for a moment, just
to hear the
crickets,
frolicking on dewy
lawn,
swear i’ll
have
you..
back
by dawn.
muddy up the
mix,
drown that
bass
until it bubbles
into sound
canal-
then wash
it back
into
depths from
which
tune
was
hatched..
..and relax.
caught a
spark,
boxed it up in
wooden
heart–
saved for warmth
starved
night,
when deeply
in want
of
your crackling
bright.
a romance, not for
the faint of
heart–
but yielding beyond
what i’d
wish-
had i taken
cues
from those who
no longer
kiss.
