boyhood friend,
we played

i was mother,
she acted
dad,
we stayed fluid
in roles of
spouse-
and worked our
issues
out.

morning feels
seperate from day,
any meaning left
in saying?
heart’s not in it

can’t shower off
a brain,
standing stunned
in artificial
rains–
won’t chase sorrow
down the
drain..
sick of stale rhymes
ranyway.

do not disturb with
hollow words-
dare you ignore the
warning on
door,
or reasons it
hangs
for!
do not disturb
unless
feline.. or
bird.
reverberance of
connection, amplified..
in pockets
of quiet,
as heart blossoms
unsilent,
cased in
chicken wire-
twisting
and crumbling–
uncluttering
escape..
from mind’s
useless mumbling.
dear drill, toothy
drill-
rattlin’ skull
still..
in chamber of
respite
your grind
bites
most
desperate.
sir rooster mounts
farm table,
mute, with proud
intent–
bold, for beast
so quiet,
feathers fan bed’s
drowsy brood-
rousing but
seldom
rude.
summon spring,
quick!
‘fore we
fade into forget,
winter wheezes til
shivers sieze
breath-
grinding time
forth..
sundial tilted
north.
In Holding
chewed pencil is
grasping
to each line I’m
writing
this raft built
of stained
glass
shattered
in life’s hands.
