shadow on the
window
sill
says nothing yet
rules me
still
by granting my
childest
desires-
by absolving
tears on
fire.
rhyme
heaviness of
talk–
drags me into rooms
i care not
visit
to squander
hours
on words that
matter
not.
love starts with one
heartbeat
‘gainst a cage that
rattles and
splits,
till out fly the
doves
from a cold,
lifeless
pit.
on the stairway
to no end,
i take a breather then
begin again,
each rung closer
to nowhere,
not even aware of
what landed
me there.
taking separate
trains
in separate
ways
to meet again
next june,
and ill be ticking
off the
days
like you’ll be
with me
soon.
with a
whisper-
you drew me closer
than i’d been
before,
and when our lips
met i felt a
longing
stronger than my
fear of
more.
passenger’s side
was as close
as i’d
get
to knowing
driver’s
mind
though inches
from mine.
the sky has not
woken
yet i’m up for
its birth-
forgoing sound
rest,
on the dawn of
new hope,
i’m suspicious
at best.
heartbeat against
eardrum
close to combustion
from timely
tension
of strains felt
that need no mention.
caught her not
looking
as he entered
the room-
grown too used to
her gaze
spotlighting
his way.
