i’ll take autumn’s hand
should she ask me
to dance,
in the splendor of
her vibrancy–
i’d rise to such
a chance.

sweater vest, you’re
too tight
and don’t flatter
me right,
wish that i had
refused..
second helpings
last night.
you, with your
rocky mountain smile
and scent of juniper
breeze,
on a frosty autumn
morning–
it’s just us amongst
the trees.
you grasped
at sky
and dragged it
down
to face you
eye to
eye,
then burst every
cloud in
sight.
your light’s
sincere,
a smile so ripe
with life,
those eyes..
i’d climb and dive into
to get a closer
view.
in between blunted
honks of
geese
i watch you soar
to far off
perch
to take your place
amidst the
free,
accentuating the space
that spans our
fates.
startled
by the sound
of my
imagination,
woken by a feeling
i assumed had
passed,
taken with a sight
that refuses
to let
go,
settled by the voice
of someone i
used to
know.
shadow passenger
on train
nods as he
passes
by,
i’ve never caught
his face,
although we’ve
met eye to
eye.
with roses
on your cheeks
we tumbled into wild
garden bed,
grass stains upon
knees,
dirt in the creases
of our eyes.
stepped through
a dream
and found myself trapped
in someone
else,
till i became the
voice
to summon my
release–
for the dream within
a dream to
cease.
