melancholy dressed
in dream-
bleeds from
ceiling,
best not
call
after locking
door
in the face of
friends-
fade to smile
again.

is the freezing
done?
love’s precious
sun
shed like lifetimes
upon tongue
knows
no resolution
or relief
from.
shaded in
quiet
on
dug up
boneyard bus
‘tween deadbolt
vents
gasp chimney
hearts-
a watched sun
danced.
frost feathers window
into safe room
no longer breathes
no longer knows
it’s here to hold you
until see through.
sticky cherry cloud
swells
in corner of a room
on the take,
no prayer chaste enough
to penetrate
the lecher
watching stars deflate.
peeled from
wall like painted tape
masks our
ages,
raised a page
towards youth’s flame
and licked up ash despite
its taste..
streams like ink between
my temples
into sky.
prescription
scribbled on my hand..
bland sunday
head buried in someone’s story,
asked for
the housekeys back,
drove to hear music move
like my body’s
steam,
night whistles through
the cracks we
dream.
dress up any
horror,
softer side of blade
on ribbon-
drag it tighter
to match mood of room,
unfasten mask
to watch them gasp in fright
daughters drape the stairs,
all eyes after
midnight.
blue breath in playground
older dogs off leash,
ice rinks in backyards
kid neighbor’s father screams,
night stars frosted to my glasses
woodsmoke whispers
winter’s name
like crystal.
teased and tickled in
snowfall blinds..
drawn to chin
to guard embers within
from
shadow storm
gorged on trees whole
snow angels play shy
in plain sight.
